Age limits for the service of the Levites
The Lord sets the age limits for the service of the Levites in the tent of meeting: they are to begin their service at twenty-five years of age and retire from the main work when they reach fifty, though they may continue to assist their brothers with guard duty. Numbers 8:23-26
4. Mose 8,23-26
23The LORD said to Moses,
וַיְדַבֵּ֥ר יְהוָ֖ה אֶל־מֹשֶׁ֥ה לֵּאמֹֽר׃
24"This is the rule for the Levites: from the age of twenty-five and upward a man shall enter the ranks of those who serve at the tent of meeting.
זֹ֖את אֲשֶׁ֣ר לַלְוִיִּ֑ם מִבֶּן֩ חָמֵ֨שׁ וְעֶשְׂרִ֤ים שָׁנָה֙ וָמַ֔עְלָה יָבוֹא֙ לִצְבֹ֣א צָבָ֔א בַּעֲבֹדַ֖ת אֹ֥הֶל מוֹעֵֽד׃
25But at the age of fifty he shall retire from active service and work no longer.
וּמִבֶּן֙ חֲמִשִּׁ֣ים שָׁנָ֔ה יָשׁ֖וּב מִצְּבָ֣א הָעֲבֹדָ֑ה וְלֹ֥א יַעֲבֹ֖ד עֽוֹד׃
26He may assist his brothers at the tent of meeting by keeping watch, but he is not to do the work himself. This is how you are to assign the duties of the Levites."
וְשֵׁרֵ֨ת אֶת־אֶחָ֜יו בְּאֹ֤הֶל מוֹעֵד֙ לִשְׁמֹ֣ר מִשְׁמֶ֔רֶת וַעֲבֹדָ֖ה לֹ֣א יַעֲבֹ֑ד כָּ֛כָה תַּעֲשֶׂ֥ה לַלְוִיִּ֖ם בְּמִשְׁמְרֹתָֽם׃ פ
