Prayer for the Sick and Confession of Sins

James gives instruction that the sick should call for the elders of the church, who are to pray over them and anoint them with oil in the name of the Lord. The prayer of faith will save the sick, and the Lord will raise them up; if they have sinned, they will be forgiven. Believers are encouraged to confess their sins to one another and pray for each other, for the prayer of a righteous person has great power.

Jakobus 5,14-16

14Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord.
15And the prayer offered in faith will save the sick person, and the Lord will raise him up. If he has committed sins, he will be forgiven.
16So confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.
