The Flying Scroll
Zechariah receives a vision of a flying scroll, twenty cubits long and ten cubits wide. The scroll is the curse that goes out over the whole land, striking thieves and those who swear falsely by God's name. The Lord of Hosts sends it into their houses to consume both timber and stones. Zechariah 5:1-4
Sacharja 5,1-4
1Again I looked up, and there before me was a flying scroll.
וָאָשׁ֕וּב וָאֶשָּׂ֥א עֵינַ֖י וָֽאֶרְאֶ֑ה וְהִנֵּ֖ה מְגִלָּ֥ה עָפָֽה׃
2He asked me, "What do you see?" I answered, "I see a flying scroll, twenty cubits long and ten cubits wide."
וַיֹּ֣אמֶר אֵלַ֔י מָ֥ה אַתָּ֖ה רֹאֶ֑ה וָאֹמַ֗ר אֲנִ֤י רֹאֶה֙ מְגִלָּ֣ה עָפָ֔ה אָרְכָּהּ֙ עֶשְׂרִ֣ים בָּֽאַמָּ֔ה וְרָחְבָּ֖הּ עֶ֥שֶׂר בָּאַמָּֽה׃
3Then he said to me, "This is the curse going out over the whole land. According to one side of the scroll, every thief will be swept away; according to the other, everyone who swears falsely will be swept away.
וַיֹּ֣אמֶר אֵלַ֔י זֹ֚את הָֽאָלָ֔ה הַיּוֹצֵ֖את עַל־פְּנֵ֣י כָל־הָאָ֑רֶץ כִּ֣י כָל־הַגֹּנֵ֗ב מִזֶּה֙ כָּמ֣וֹהָ נִקָּ֔ה וְכָל־הַ֨נִּשְׁבָּ֔ע מִזֶּ֖ה כָּמ֥וֹהָ נִקָּֽה׃
4I am sending it out, declares the LORD of hosts, and it will enter the house of the thief and the house of the one who swears falsely by my name. It will remain in his house and consume it, both its timbers and its stones."
הוֹצֵאתִ֗יהָ נְאֻם֙ יְהוָ֣ה צְבָא֔וֹת וּבָ֙אָה֙ אֶל־בֵּ֣ית הַגַּנָּ֔ב וְאֶל־בֵּ֛ית הַנִּשְׁבָּ֥ע בִּשְׁמִ֖י לַשָּׁ֑קֶר וְלָ֙נֶה֙ בְּת֣וֹךְ בֵּית֔וֹ וְכִלַּ֖תּוּ וְאֶת־עֵצָ֥יו וְאֶת־אֲבָנָֽיו׃
