Die Propheten

The Lord's arm awakens and remembers the redemption

The prophet calls on the Lord's arm to awake as in days of old, remembering how He cut Rahab in pieces, pierced the dragon, and dried up the sea so that the redeemed could cross over. This leads to the promise that those whom the Lord has ransomed will return to Zion with joy and everlasting gladness, while sorrow and sighing flee away Isaiah 51:9-11.

Jesaja 51,9-11

9Awake, awake, put on strength, O arm of the LORD! Awake as in days of old, as in generations long past. Was it not you who cut Rahab to pieces, who pierced the dragon?
10Was it not you who dried up the sea, the waters of the great deep, who made the depths of the sea a road for the redeemed to cross over?
11So the ransomed of the LORD will return and come to Zion with singing; everlasting joy will crown their heads. Gladness and joy will overtake them, and sorrow and sighing will flee away.
