Solomon's Temple: Equipment and Hiram's Work
The chapter describes in detail the bronze and gold items made for God's house: the bronze altar, the great Sea resting on twelve oxen, the ten basins for cleansing water, the ten golden lampstands, and the ten tables in the temple hall, as well as the priests' courtyard and the large outer court. Master Hiram completed the casting of the pillars, pomegranates, pots, and bowls on the plain of Jordan between Succoth and Zeredatha, while Solomon provided all the gold utensils for the Most Holy Place and the temple hall.
2. Chronik 4,1-22
1He made a bronze altar twenty cubits long, twenty cubits wide, and ten cubits high.
2He made the cast metal Sea, ten cubits from rim to rim, perfectly round, five cubits high, and a line of thirty cubits measured its circumference.
3Beneath it, figures of oxen encircled it all the way around, ten to a cubit, surrounding the Sea on every side. The oxen were in two rows, cast as one piece with the Sea.
4It stood on twelve oxen: three facing north, three facing west, three facing south, and three facing east. The Sea rested on top of them, and all their hindquarters were turned inward.
5It was a handbreadth thick, and its rim was shaped like the rim of a cup, like a lily blossom. It held three thousand baths.
6He made ten basins, setting five on the right and five on the left, for washing. In them they rinsed what was used for the burnt offering, but the Sea was for the priests to wash in.
7He made ten gold lampstands according to the specifications for them, and set them in the temple, five on the right and five on the left.
8He made ten tables and placed them in the temple, five on the right and five on the left. He also made a hundred gold bowls.
9He made the court of the priests and the great courtyard with its doors, and he overlaid the doors with bronze.
10He set the Sea on the south side, at the southeast corner.
11Huram also made the pots, the shovels, and the bowls. So Huram finished the work he had undertaken for King Solomon in the house of God:
12the two pillars; the two bowl-shaped capitals on top of the pillars; the two networks to cover the two bowl-shaped capitals on top of the pillars;
13the four hundred pomegranates for the two networks, two rows of pomegranates for each network, covering the two bowl-shaped capitals on the front of the pillars;
14the stands, and the basins on the stands;
15the one Sea, and the twelve oxen beneath it;
16and the pots, the shovels, the forks, and all their utensils. Huram-abi made all these things of polished bronze for King Solomon, for the house of the LORD.
17The king cast them in the plain of the Jordan, in the clay ground between Succoth and Zeredah.
18Solomon made all these articles in such great quantity that the weight of the bronze could not be determined.
19Solomon also made all the furnishings for the house of God: the golden altar; the tables on which the bread of the Presence was set;
20the lampstands of pure gold with their lamps, to burn as prescribed in front of the inner sanctuary;
21the flowers, the lamps, and the tongs, all of purest gold;
22the wick trimmers, the bowls, the dishes, and the censers, of pure gold; and the doorway of the temple—its inner doors to the Most Holy Place and the doors of the main hall—overlaid with gold.
