Samuel's Judgeship and Travels Throughout the Land
Samuel judged Israel all his life. Year after year he traveled to Bethel, Gilgal, and Mizpah to judge the people at these places before returning to his home in Ramah, where he also judged Israel and built an altar for the Lord.
1. Samuel 7,15-17
15Samuel judged Israel all the days of his life.
וַיִּשְׁפֹּ֤ט שְׁמוּאֵל֙ אֶת־יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל כֹּ֖ל יְמֵ֥י חַיָּֽיו׃
16Year after year he would travel a circuit to Bethel, Gilgal, and Mizpah, judging Israel in all these places.
וְהָלַ֗ךְ מִדֵּ֤י שָׁנָה֙ בְּשָׁנָ֔ה וְסָבַב֙ בֵּֽית־אֵ֔ל וְהַגִּלְגָּ֖ל וְהַמִּצְפָּ֑ה וְשָׁפַט֙ אֶת־יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל אֵ֥ת כָּל־הַמְּקוֹמ֖וֹת הָאֵֽלֶּה׃
17Then he would return to Ramah, for his home was there, and there too he judged Israel. And there he built an altar to the LORD.
וּתְשֻׁבָת֤וֹ הָרָמָ֙תָה֙ כִּֽי־שָׁ֣ם בֵּית֔וֹ וְשָׁ֖ם שָׁפָ֣ט אֶת־יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל וַיִּֽבֶן־שָׁ֥ם מִזְבֵּ֖חַ לַֽיהוָֽה׃ פ
