Tribal leader in Manasseh

Azriel is mentioned as one of the heads of the families in the eastern half-tribe of Manasseh, a mighty warrior and well-known man.

24These were the heads of their fathers' houses: Epher, Ishi, Eliel, Azriel, Jeremiah, Hodaviah, and Jahdiel—mighty warriors, men of renown, heads of their fathers' houses.

The tribe of Manasseh taken into exile

Despite his position as tribal leader, Azriel and his people were taken into exile by the king of Assyria because they were unfaithful to the God of their fathers.

25But they were unfaithful to the God of their fathers and prostituted themselves to the gods of the peoples of the land, whom God had destroyed before them.
26So the God of Israel stirred up the spirit of Pul king of Assyria and the spirit of Tilgath-pilneser king of Assyria, and he carried them away—the Reubenites, the Gadites, and the half-tribe of Manasseh—bringing them to Halah, Habor, Hara, and the river Gozan, where they remain to this day.

Azriel, father of Jerimoth

Another Azriel is mentioned as the father of Jerimoth, who was leader over the tribe of Naphtali during King David's reign.

19for Zebulun, Ishmaiah son of Obadiah; for Naphtali, Jerimoth son of Azriel;

Azriel, father of Seraiah

During the time of Jeremiah, an Azriel is mentioned as the father of Seraiah. King Jehoiakim sent Seraiah along with others to arrest the prophet Jeremiah and his scribe Baruch.

26Instead the king ordered Jerahmeel, a son of the king, Seraiah son of Azriel, and Shelemiah son of Abdeel to arrest Baruch the scribe and Jeremiah the prophet. But the LORD had hidden them.
