Elada is a person mentioned in 1 Chronicles as a descendant of Ephraim. He is known primarily through his lineage in the family tree of Ephraim. His sons were killed by men from Gath when they attempted to steal their livestock, which caused great grief for Ephraim.
Men from Gath killed some of Ephraim's descendants because they went down to take their livestock. This brought great sorrow to Ephraim, who mourned for a long time.
21Zabad his son, Shuthelah his son, and also Ezer and Elead, whom the men of Gath, born in that land, killed, for they had gone down to seize their livestock.
After the tragedy with his descendants, Ephraim mourned for many days, and his brothers came to comfort him. Later he had a new son whom he named Beriah.
23Then he went in to his wife, and she conceived and bore a son. He named him Beriah,* because disaster had struck his house. [*Footnote: The name Beriah sounds like the Hebrew phrase meaning "in misfortune."]
