Hashabiah was a Levite who played an important role in the post-exilic period. He is mentioned in several contexts in the books of Ezra and Nehemiah as a leader among the Levites, and actively participated in the rebuilding of Jerusalem and in worship at the temple. He was among those who sealed the covenant with God under Nehemiah.
