Jalam was the second son of Esau and his wife Oholibama. He became a tribal chief in Edom and is counted among the forefathers of the Edomites. Although he does not play a prominent role in the biblical narrative, he is part of Esau's lineage that made up the people of Edom.
18These were the sons of Esau's wife Oholibamah: Chief Jeush, Chief Jalam, Chief Korah. These were the chiefs descended from Esau's wife Oholibamah, the daughter of Anah.
Esau took his entire family, including Jalam, and moved away from his brother Jacob to the Seir mountains because the land could not support them both.
6Esau took his wives, his sons and daughters, and everyone in his household, along with his livestock, all his animals, and all the property he had acquired in the land of Canaan, and he moved to another land, away from his brother Jacob.
