Chilion was an Israelite from Bethlehem who, together with his family, moved to Moab during a famine. He married the Moabite woman Orpah but died childless in Moab after about ten years of marriage.

Chilion traveled with his father Elimelech, mother Naomi, and brother Mahlon from Bethlehem to Moab due to a famine in Israel.
1In the days when the judges ruled, there was a famine in the land, and a man from Bethlehem in Judah went to live for a time in the country of Moab, he and his wife and his two sons.
וַיְהִ֗י בִּימֵי֙ שְׁפֹ֣ט הַשֹּׁפְטִ֔ים וַיְהִ֥י רָעָ֖ב בָּאָ֑רֶץ וַיֵּ֨לֶךְ אִ֜ישׁ מִבֵּ֧ית לֶ֣חֶם יְהוּדָ֗ה לָגוּר֙ בִּשְׂדֵ֣י מוֹאָ֔ב ה֥וּא וְאִשְׁתּ֖וֹ וּשְׁנֵ֥י בָנָֽיו׃
2The man's name was Elimelech, his wife's name was Naomi, and the names of his two sons were Mahlon and Chilion. They were Ephrathites from Bethlehem in Judah. They came to the country of Moab and settled there.
וְשֵׁ֣ם הָאִ֣ישׁ אֱֽלִימֶ֡לֶךְ וְשֵׁם֩ אִשְׁתּ֨וֹ נָעֳמִ֜י וְשֵׁ֥ם שְׁנֵֽי־בָנָ֣יו ׀ מַחְל֤וֹן וְכִלְיוֹן֙ אֶפְרָתִ֔ים מִבֵּ֥ית לֶ֖חֶם יְהוּדָ֑ה וַיָּבֹ֥אוּ שְׂדֵי־מוֹאָ֖ב וַיִּֽהְיוּ־שָֽׁם׃
Death of the Father
Elimelech died in Moab, and Chilion and his brother remained with their mother Naomi.
3Then Elimelech, Naomi's husband, died, and she was left with her two sons.
וַיָּ֥מָת אֱלִימֶ֖לֶךְ אִ֣ישׁ נָעֳמִ֑י וַתִּשָּׁאֵ֥ר הִ֖יא וּשְׁנֵ֥י בָנֶֽיהָ׃
Marriage to Orpah
Chilion married the Moabite woman Orpah, while his brother Mahlon married Ruth. They lived in Moab for about ten years.
4The sons married Moabite women, one named Orpah and the other Ruth. They lived there about ten years,
וַיִּשְׂא֣וּ לָהֶ֗ם נָשִׁים֙ מֹֽאֲבִיּ֔וֹת שֵׁ֤ם הָֽאַחַת֙ עָרְפָּ֔ה וְשֵׁ֥ם הַשֵּׁנִ֖ית ר֑וּת וַיֵּ֥שְׁבוּ שָׁ֖ם כְּעֶ֥שֶׂר שָׁנִֽים׃
Death of Chilion
Chilion died childless in Moab along with his brother Mahlon, leaving three widows: Naomi, Orpah, and Ruth.
5and then both Mahlon and Chilion died as well, so the woman was left without her two children and without her husband.
וַיָּמ֥וּתוּ גַם־שְׁנֵיהֶ֖ם מַחְל֣וֹן וְכִלְי֑וֹן וַתִּשָּׁאֵר֙ הָֽאִשָּׁ֔ה מִשְּׁנֵ֥י יְלָדֶ֖יהָ וּמֵאִישָֽׁהּ׃
