Kozbi was a Midianite woman, the daughter of Sur, a Midianite tribal leader. She was brought into the Israelite camp by Zimri, an Israelite leader, in the midst of a plague that God had sent because of Israel's idolatry and immorality at Baal-Peor. Phinehas, grandson of Aaron, killed both Kozbi and Zimri with a spear, and thus the plague stopped.
Zimri, a leader from the tribe of Simeon, openly brought Kozbi into the Israelite camp while the people were weeping at the entrance to the Tabernacle.
