The Arrest in Gethsemane
Malchus was part of the group of guards and servants who came to arrest Jesus in the Garden of Gethsemane, led by Judas Iscariot.
3So Judas came there with a detachment of soldiers and with officers from the chief priests and the Pharisees, carrying lanterns, torches, and weapons.
Jesus rebuked Peter, touched Malchus's ear, and healed him—Jesus's last miracle before the crucifixion, demonstrating His love even toward His enemies.
After healing Malchus, Jesus allowed himself to be arrested willingly and reminded his disciples that he could have called on angels for defense, but that Scripture had to be fulfilled.
