Expansion of Territory

Meshobab and the other Simeonite leaders went to the entrance of Gedor to seek pasture for their small livestock, and found lush and good grazing lands.

39They went to the entrance of Gedor, to the east side of the valley, to look for pasture for their flocks.
40They found rich, good pasture, and the land was broad, quiet, and peaceful, for the people who had lived there before were Hamites.

Expulsion of the Hamites

The Simeonite chieftains, including Meshobab, defeated the original Hamitic inhabitants and settled in their place because there was pasture for their small livestock there.

41These men, recorded by name, came in the days of Hezekiah king of Judah and attacked their tents and the Meunites who were found there. They destroyed them completely, and so it remains to this day, and they settled in their place, because there was pasture for their flocks.

Military expedition to Mount Seir

In the days of King Hezekiah, some of the Simeonites, possibly including Meshobab, went to Mount Seir and struck down the remaining Amalekites who had survived there.

42Five hundred of these Simeonites went to Mount Seir, led by Pelatiah, Neariah, Rephaiah, and Uzziel, the sons of Ishi.
43They struck down the remnant of the Amalekites who had survived, and they have lived there to this day.
