Uzziel was the son of Kohath and grandson of Levi, thus an important patriarch in the Levite lineage. He was the father of several sons, including Mishael, Elzaphan, and Zithri. His descendants, the Uzzielites, had important duties related to tabernacle service and temple service in Israel.
Uzziel's sons Mishael and Elzaphan were called by Moses to carry the dead bodies of Nadab and Abihu out of the camp after they were struck down by the Lord's fire.
4Moses called Mishael and Elzaphan, sons of Uzziel, Aaron's uncle, and said to them, "Come here, carry your brothers away from the front of the sanctuary, outside the camp."
15They gathered their brothers and consecrated themselves, and then they went in to purify the house of the LORD, as the king had commanded according to the words of the LORD.
