Ezekiel Eats with Trembling as a Sign
The word of the Lord comes to Ezekiel, and he is commanded to eat his bread with trembling and drink his water in dread and anxiety. This is a prophetic sign of the terror and dismay that will strike the people of Jerusalem when the land is laid waste because of violence and the cities become ruins. In this way, the people will know that I am the Lord Ezekiel 12:17-20.
Ezequiel 12,17-20
17The word of the LORD came to me:
וַיְהִ֥י דְבַר־יְהוָ֖ה אֵלַ֥י לֵאמֹֽר׃
18Son of man, eat your bread with trembling and drink your water with shuddering and dread.
בֶּן־אָדָ֕ם לַחְמְךָ֖ בְּרַ֣עַשׁ תֹּאכֵ֑ל וּמֵימֶ֕יךָ בְּרָגְזָ֥ה וּבִדְאָגָ֖ה תִּשְׁתֶּֽה׃
19And say to the people of the land: This is what the Lord GOD says about those who live in Jerusalem and in the land of Israel: They will eat their bread in dread and drink their water in despair, for their land will be stripped of everything in it because of the violence of all who live there.
וְאָמַרְתָּ֣ אֶל־עַ֣ם הָאָ֡רֶץ כֹּֽה־אָמַר֩ אֲדֹנָ֨י יְהוִ֜ה לְיוֹשְׁבֵ֤י יְרוּשָׁלִַ֙ם֙ אֶל־אַדְמַ֣ת יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל לַחְמָם֙ בִּדְאָגָ֣ה יֹאכֵ֔לוּ וּמֵֽימֵיהֶ֖ם בְּשִׁמָּמ֣וֹן יִשְׁתּ֑וּ לְמַ֜עַן תֵּשַׁ֤ם אַרְצָהּ֙ מִמְּלֹאָ֔הּ מֵחֲמַ֖ס כָּֽל־הַיֹּשְׁבִ֥ים בָּֽהּ׃
20The inhabited cities will be laid waste and the land will become a desolation. Then you will know that I am the LORD.
וְהֶעָרִ֤ים הַנּֽוֹשָׁבוֹת֙ תֶּחֱרַ֔בְנָה וְהָאָ֖רֶץ שְׁמָמָ֣ה תִֽהְיֶ֑ה וִֽידַעְתֶּ֖ם כִּֽי־אֲנִ֥י יְהוָֽה׃ פ
