Ezekiel is bound and made mute as a sign of judgment
After the Spirit has lifted Ezekiel up, he is told to shut himself in his house. People are to lay ropes on him and bind him, and God will cause his tongue to stick to the roof of his mouth so that he becomes mute and cannot rebuke the people. But when God speaks to him, his mouth shall be opened so that he can say: 'Thus says the Lord God.' Whoever wishes to hear may hear; whoever refuses to hear, let them refuse—for they are a rebellious house.
Ezequiel 3,24-27
24Then the Spirit entered me and set me on my feet. He spoke with me and said, "Go, shut yourself inside your house.
וַתָּבֹא־בִ֣י ר֔וּחַ וַתַּעֲמִדֵ֖נִי עַל־רַגְלָ֑י וַיְדַבֵּ֤ר אֹתִי֙ וַיֹּ֣אמֶר אֵלַ֔י בֹּ֥א הִסָּגֵ֖ר בְּת֥וֹךְ בֵּיתֶֽךָ׃
25As for you, son of man, they will put ropes on you and bind you with them, so that you cannot go out among them.
וְאַתָּ֣ה בֶן־אָדָ֗ם הִנֵּ֨ה נָתְנ֤וּ עָלֶ֙יךָ֙ עֲבוֹתִ֔ים וַאֲסָר֖וּךָ בָּהֶ֑ם וְלֹ֥א תֵצֵ֖א בְּתוֹכָֽם׃
26I will make your tongue stick to the roof of your mouth so that you will be silent and unable to rebuke them, for they are a rebellious house.
וּלְשֽׁוֹנְךָ֙ אַדְבִּ֣יק אֶל־חִכֶּ֔ךָ וְנֶֽאֱלַ֔מְתָּ וְלֹא־תִֽהְיֶ֥ה לָהֶ֖ם לְאִ֣ישׁ מוֹכִ֑יחַ כִּ֛י בֵּ֥ית מְרִ֖י הֵֽמָּה׃
27But when I speak with you, I will open your mouth, and you will say to them, 'This is what the Lord GOD says.' Whoever will listen, let him listen; whoever refuses, let him refuse—for they are a rebellious house."
וּֽבְדַבְּרִ֤י אֽוֹתְךָ֙ אֶפְתַּ֣ח אֶת־פִּ֔יךָ וְאָמַרְתָּ֣ אֲלֵיהֶ֔ם כֹּ֥ה אָמַ֖ר אֲדֹנָ֣י יְהֹוִ֑ה הַשֹּׁמֵ֤עַ ׀ יִשְׁמָע֙ וְהֶחָדֵ֣ל ׀ יֶחְדָּ֔ל כִּ֛י בֵּ֥ית מְרִ֖י הֵֽמָּה׃ ס
