Micah's Promise of Rebuilding and the Subjugation of the Nations
A prophetic vision from Micah about the day when God's people will be rebuilt, walls raised and borders expanded. People will come from Assyria and Egypt, from sea to sea and from mountain to mountain, while the land lies desolate because of its inhabitants' deeds. The Lord will guard his people with his staff like a flock on Carmel, Bashan and Gilead, and let them see wonderful things as when they came out of Egypt. Nations will see it and be put to shame, lay their hand over their mouth, lick the dust like a serpent and come trembling from their strongholds to fear the Lord.
Miqueas 7,11-17
11The day is coming to rebuild your walls; on that day your boundary will be extended.
י֖וֹם לִבְנ֣וֹת גְּדֵרָ֑יִךְ י֥וֹם הַה֖וּא יִרְחַק־חֹֽק׃
12On that day they will come to you from Assyria and the cities of Egypt, from Egypt to the Euphrates, from sea to sea and mountain to mountain.
י֥וֹם הוּא֙ וְעָדֶ֣יךָ יָב֔וֹא לְמִנִּ֥י אַשּׁ֖וּר וְעָרֵ֣י מָצ֑וֹר וּלְמִנִּ֤י מָצוֹר֙ וְעַד־נָהָ֔ר וְיָ֥ם מִיָּ֖ם וְהַ֥ר הָהָֽר׃
13But the land will become a desolation because of those who live in it, because of the fruit of their deeds.
וְהָיְתָ֥ה הָאָ֛רֶץ לִשְׁמָמָ֖ה עַל־יֹֽשְׁבֶ֑יהָ מִפְּרִ֖י מַֽעַלְלֵיהֶֽם׃ ס
14Shepherd your people with your staff, the flock of your inheritance, who dwell alone in a forest amid fertile pastures. Let them graze in Bashan and Gilead as in days long past.
רְעֵ֧ה עַמְּךָ֣ בְשִׁבְטֶ֗ךָ צֹ֚אן נַֽחֲלָתֶ֔ךָ שֹׁכְנִ֣י לְבָדָ֔ד יַ֖עַר בְּת֣וֹךְ כַּרְמֶ֑ל יִרְע֥וּ בָשָׁ֛ן וְגִלְעָ֖ד כִּימֵ֥י עוֹלָֽם׃
15As in the days when you came out of Egypt, I will show them my wonders.
כִּימֵ֥י צֵאתְךָ֖ מֵאֶ֣רֶץ מִצְרָ֑יִם אַרְאֶ֖נּוּ נִפְלָאֽוֹת׃
16The nations will see and be ashamed, for all their might will count for nothing. They will put their hands over their mouths; their ears will be deaf.
יִרְא֤וּ גוֹיִם֙ וְיֵבֹ֔שׁוּ מִכֹּ֖ל גְּבֽוּרָתָ֑ם יָשִׂ֤ימוּ יָד֙ עַל־פֶּ֔ה אָזְנֵיהֶ֖ם תֶּחֱרַֽשְׁנָה׃
17They will lick the dust like a snake, like creatures that crawl on the ground. They will come trembling out of their strongholds; they will turn in dread to the LORD our God, and they will fear you.
יְלַחֲכ֤וּ עָפָר֙ כַּנָּחָ֔שׁ כְּזֹחֲלֵ֣י אֶ֔רֶץ יִרְגְּז֖וּ מִמִּסְגְּרֹֽתֵיהֶ֑ם אֶל־יְהוָ֤ה אֱלֹהֵ֙ינוּ֙ יִפְחָ֔דוּ וְיִֽרְא֖וּ מִמֶּֽךָּ׃
