The Lord as a Sanctuary, a Stone of Stumbling and a Trap
The Lord spoke to Isaiah with a mighty hand and warned him not to follow the people's path. They were not to call everything a conspiracy as the people did, nor fear what they feared. The Lord of hosts was to be held holy; he was to be their fear. He would be a sanctuary, but also a stone of stumbling and a rock that causes falling for both houses of Israel, a snare and a trap for the inhabitants of Jerusalem. Many would stumble, fall, be broken, and be caught.
Isaías 8,11-15
11For thus the LORD spoke to me, his hand strong upon me, warning me not to walk in the way of this people:
12Do not call conspiracy everything this people calls conspiracy; do not fear what they fear, and do not be terrified.
13The LORD of hosts — him you shall regard as holy; he shall be your fear, he shall be your dread.
14He will become a sanctuary, but also a stone that makes people stumble and a rock that trips them up — for both houses of Israel — a trap and a snare for the inhabitants of Jerusalem.
15Many will stumble over them; they will fall and be broken, they will be snared and captured.
