Lament over the King of Tyre
The Lord's word comes to Ezekiel with a lament over the king of Tyre. He is described as the seal of perfection, full of wisdom and beauty, and was in Eden, God's garden, covered with precious stones. As an anointed cherub he walked on God's holy mountain among the stones of fire. But through his great trade he became filled with violence and sinned, and his heart grew proud because of his beauty. Therefore he was defiled, driven away from God's mountain and cast to the earth. Fire went out from within him and consumed him, and he became ash in the sight of all, a terror to the nations.
Ezequiel 28,11-19
11The word of the LORD came to me:
וַיְהִ֥י דְבַר־יְהוָ֖ה אֵלַ֥י לֶאמֹֽר׃
12Son of man, raise a lament over the king of Tyre and say to him: This is what the Lord GOD says: You were the seal of perfection, full of wisdom and flawless in beauty.
בֶּן־אָדָ֕ם שָׂ֥א קִינָ֖ה עַל־מֶ֣לֶךְ צ֑וֹר וְאָמַ֣רְתָּ לּ֗וֹ כֹּ֤ה אָמַר֙ אֲדֹנָ֣י יְהוִ֔ה אַתָּה֙ חוֹתֵ֣ם תָּכְנִ֔ית מָלֵ֥א חָכְמָ֖ה וּכְלִ֥יל יֹֽפִי׃
13You were in Eden, the garden of God. Every precious stone adorned you: carnelian, topaz, and diamond, beryl, onyx, and jasper, sapphire, turquoise, and emerald, all set in gold. Your settings and mountings were prepared for you on the day you were created.
בְּעֵ֨דֶן גַּן־אֱלֹהִ֜ים הָיִ֗יתָ כָּל־אֶ֨בֶן יְקָרָ֤ה מְסֻכָתֶ֙ךָ֙ אֹ֣דֶם פִּטְדָ֞ה וְיָהֲלֹ֗ם תַּרְשִׁ֥ישׁ שֹׁ֙הַם֙ וְיָ֣שְׁפֵ֔ה סַפִּ֣יר נֹ֔פֶךְ וּבָרְקַ֖ת וְזָהָ֑ב מְלֶ֨אכֶת תֻּפֶּ֤יךָ וּנְקָבֶ֙יךָ֙ בָּ֔ךְ בְּי֥וֹם הִבָּרַאֲךָ֖ כּוֹנָֽנוּ׃
14You were an anointed guardian cherub, for so I appointed you. You were on God's holy mountain; you walked among the stones of fire.
אַ֨תְּ־כְּר֔וּב מִמְשַׁ֖ח הַסּוֹכֵ֑ךְ וּנְתַתִּ֗יךָ בְּהַ֨ר קֹ֤דֶשׁ אֱלֹהִים֙ הָיִ֔יתָ בְּת֥וֹךְ אַבְנֵי־אֵ֖שׁ הִתְהַלָּֽכְתָּ׃
15You were blameless in your ways from the day you were created, until wickedness was found in you.
תָּמִ֤ים אַתָּה֙ בִּדְרָכֶ֔יךָ מִיּ֖וֹם הִבָּֽרְאָ֑ךְ עַד־נִמְצָ֥א עַוְלָ֖תָה בָּֽךְ׃
16Through your widespread trade you were filled with violence, and you sinned. So I drove you in disgrace from the mountain of God, and I banished you, guardian cherub, from among the stones of fire.
בְּרֹ֣ב רְכֻּ[t]לָּתְךָ֗ מָל֧וּ תוֹכְךָ֛ חָמָ֖ס וַֽתֶּחֱטָ֑א וָאֶחַלֶּלְךָ֩ מֵהַ֨ר אֱלֹהִ֤ים וָֽאַבֶּדְךָ֙ כְּר֣וּב הַסֹּכֵ֔ךְ מִתּ֖וֹךְ אַבְנֵי־אֵֽשׁ׃
17Your heart grew proud because of your beauty; you corrupted your wisdom for the sake of your splendor. So I threw you to the ground; I made a spectacle of you before kings.
גָּבַ֤הּ לִבְּךָ֙ בְּיָפְיֶ֔ךָ שִׁחַ֥תָּ חָכְמָתְךָ֖ עַל־יִפְעָתֶ֑ךָ עַל־אֶ֣רֶץ הִשְׁלַכְתִּ֗יךָ לִפְנֵ֧י מְלָכִ֛ים נְתַתִּ֖יךָ לְרַ֥אֲוָה בָֽךְ׃
18By your many sins and dishonest trade you desecrated your sanctuaries. So I brought fire out from within you, and it consumed you; I reduced you to ashes on the ground in the sight of all who watched.
מֵרֹ֣ב עֲוֺנֶ֗יךָ בְּעֶ֙וֶל֙ רְכֻלָּ֣תְךָ֔ חִלַּ֖לְתָּ מִקְדָּשֶׁ֑יךָ וָֽאוֹצִא־אֵ֤שׁ מִתּֽוֹכְךָ֙ הִ֣יא אֲכָלַ֔תְךָ וָאֶתֶּנְךָ֤ לְאֵ֙פֶר֙ עַל־הָאָ֔רֶץ לְעֵינֵ֖י כָּל־רֹאֶֽיךָ׃
19All who knew you among the peoples are appalled at you. You have come to a horrible end and will be no more forever.
כָּל־יוֹדְעֶ֙יךָ֙ בָּֽעַמִּ֔ים שָׁמְמ֖וּ עָלֶ֑יךָ בַּלָּה֣וֹת הָיִ֔יתָ וְאֵינְךָ֖ עַד־עוֹלָֽם׃ פ
