The Guards Are Bribed at the Tomb

After Jesus' resurrection, some of the guards go to the chief priests and report what has happened. The chief priests and elders hold a meeting and bribe the soldiers with a large sum of money to say that the disciples stole Jesus' body while they were asleep. They also promise to persuade the governor if he hears about it. The soldiers accept the money, and the rumor of the theft spreads among the Jews to this day. Matthew 28:11-15

Mateo 28,11-15

11While the women were on their way, some of the guards went into the city and reported to the chief priests everything that had happened.
12So the chief priests met with the elders, and after they had worked out a plan, they gave the soldiers a large sum of money,
13telling them, "Say this: 'His disciples came during the night and stole him while we were asleep.'
14And if this reaches the governor's ears, we will satisfy him and keep you out of trouble."
15So they took the money and did as they were instructed. And this story has been spread among the Jews to this very day.
