Mentioned in Levi's genealogy

Hebron is mentioned as one of Kohath's four sons in the genealogy of the tribe of Levi.

18The sons of Kohath: Amram, Izhar, Hebron, and Uzziel. Kohath lived 133 years.

The Genealogy in 1 Chronicles

Hebron is again recorded as a son of Kohath in the detailed genealogy in the books of Chronicles.

2These are the names of the sons of Gershom: Libni and Shimei.
18These are the men who served, together with their sons. From the Kohathites: Heman the singer, the son of Joel, the son of Samuel,

The Clans of the Hebronites

Hebron's descendants formed the clan of the Hebronites, which was registered among the Levitical clans during the wilderness wanderings.

27To Kohath belonged the clans of the Amramites, the Izharites, the Hebronites, and the Uzzielites; these are the Kohathite clans.

The Muster of the Hebronites

The Hebronites were mustered together with the other Kohathite clans and given duties related to the service of the tabernacle.

58These were the clans of Levi: the Libnite clan, the Hebronite clan, the Mahlite clan, the Mushite clan, the Korahite clan. And Kohath was the father of Amram.

David's Appointment of the Hebronites

During King David's reign, the Hebronites were assigned important administrative and religious tasks, including oversight of Israel's affairs west of the Jordan.

30Of the Hebronites: Hashabiah and his relatives—one thousand seven hundred capable men—had charge of the affairs of Israel west of the Jordan, for all the work of the LORD and the service of the king.

31Of the Hebronites: Jerijah was chief, according to the genealogies of the Hebronites by their families. In the fortieth year of David's reign a search was made, and men of great ability were found among them at Jazer in Gilead.

32His relatives, capable men, numbered two thousand seven hundred heads of families. King David put them in charge of the Reubenites, the Gadites, and the half-tribe of Manasseh for every matter concerning God and for the affairs of the king.
