Judith is mentioned in Genesis as one of Esau's wives. She was the daughter of the Hittite Beeri and married Esau, which caused grief for his parents Isaac and Rebekah. The name Judith means 'praised' or 'from Judah'.
46Then Rebekah said to Isaac, "I am weary of my life because of the Hittite women. If Jacob takes a wife from the Hittite women, such as these, from the daughters of this land, what good is my life to me?"
2Get up and go to Paddan-aram, to the house of Bethuel, your mother's father, and take a wife from there, from the daughters of Laban, your mother's brother.
4May he give you the blessing of Abraham, to you and to your offspring with you, so that you may take possession of the land where you now live as a stranger, the land God gave to Abraham."
