Service Under Joiakim

Kallai served as a priestly leader during the period when Joiakim, son of Jeshua, was high priest in the rebuilt temple in Jerusalem.

Registration of the Priests

The name of Callai was recorded in the official chronicles of priestly family heads, testifying to the accurate keeping of genealogical records in the post-exilic period.

22As for the Levites, in the days of Eliashib, Joiada, Johanan, and Jaddua, the heads of the fathers' houses were recorded, as were the priests, down to the reign of Darius the Persian.
