Prayer Sunday. Jesus' High Priestly Prayer.
Bibelsk grunnlag
Jesus prays his great prayer for the disciples and all who will come to believe (John 17): "Holy Father, keep them in your name... that they may all be one, just as you, Father, are in me, and I in you." The promise: "Ask, and you will receive, so that your joy may be complete" (John 16:24). "Until now you have asked nothing in my name. Ask, and you will receive."
Betydning
The High Priestly Prayer reveals Jesus' deepest desire: unity among believers, rooted in the unity between the Father and the Son. Prayer is not about persuading God, but entering into the fellowship between Father and Son through the Spirit. Joy does not depend on circumstances but on our relationship with God.

Liturgisk kontekst
White color. The last Sunday before Ascension in some traditions. Rogation Days (days of prayer) fall during this week in the Western Church—prayers for the year's harvest and God's blessing.
Historie
Rogation Days (the three days before Ascension) were introduced by Bishop Mamertus in Vienne around 470, originally as a prayer and penitential procession in response to natural disasters. They later became a fixed part of the church calendar with a focus on praying for daily bread.
