The Judgment on the Prince of Tyre
The word of the Lord came to Ezekiel concerning the prince of Tyre, who in his pride said: "I am a god; I sit on the throne of God in the heart of the seas." He is wiser than Daniel and has gathered gold and silver through his wisdom and trade, but his heart became proud. Therefore the Lord will bring the most ruthless nations against him. They will draw their swords against his splendor, cast him down into the grave, and kill him in the heart of the seas. He shall die the death of the uncircumcised, for the Lord has spoken. Ezekiel 28:1-10
Hesekiel 28,1-10
1The word of the LORD came to me:
וַיְהִ֥י דְבַר־יְהוָ֖ה אֵלַ֥י לֵאמֹֽר׃
2Son of man, say to the prince of Tyre: This is what the Lord GOD says: Because your heart is proud and you have said, "I am a god; I sit enthroned as a god in the heart of the seas"—yet you are a man and not a god, though you set your mind as if it were the mind of a god.
בֶּן־אָדָ֡ם אֱמֹר֩ לִנְגִ֨יד צֹ֜ר כֹּֽה־אָמַ֣ר ׀ אֲדֹנָ֣י יְהֹוִ֗ה יַ֣עַן גָּבַ֤הּ לִבְּךָ֙ וַתֹּ֙אמֶר֙ אֵ֣ל אָ֔נִי מוֹשַׁ֧ב אֱלֹהִ֛ים יָשַׁ֖בְתִּי בְּלֵ֣ב יַמִּ֑ים וְאַתָּ֤ה אָדָם֙ וְֽלֹא־אֵ֔ל וַתִּתֵּ֥ן לִבְּךָ֖ כְּלֵ֥ב אֱלֹהִֽים׃
3Look, you are wiser than Daniel; no secret is too dark for you.
הִנֵּ֥ה חָכָ֛ם אַתָּ֖ה *מדנאל **מִדָּֽנִיֵּ֑אל כָּל־סָת֖וּם לֹ֥א עֲמָמֽוּךָ׃
4By your wisdom and understanding you have made yourself rich, gathering gold and silver into your treasuries.
בְּחָכְמָֽתְךָ֙ וּבִתְבוּנָ֣תְךָ֔ עָשִׂ֥יתָ לְּךָ֖ חָ֑יִל וַתַּ֛עַשׂ זָהָ֥ב וָכֶ֖סֶף בְּאוֹצְרוֹתֶֽיךָ׃
5By your great wisdom in your trading you increased your wealth, and your heart grew proud because of your wealth.
בְּרֹ֧ב חָכְמָתְךָ֛ בִּרְכֻלָּתְךָ֖ הִרְבִּ֣יתָ חֵילֶ֑ךָ וַיִּגְבַּ֥הּ לְבָבְךָ֖ בְּחֵילֶֽךָ׃ ס
6Therefore this is what the Lord GOD says: Because you set your mind as if it were the mind of a god,
לָכֵ֕ן כֹּ֥ה אָמַ֖ר אֲדֹנָ֣י יְהוִ֑ה יַ֛עַן תִּתְּךָ֥ אֶת־לְבָבְךָ֖ כְּלֵ֥ב אֱלֹהִֽים׃
7I am bringing strangers against you, the most ruthless of nations. They will draw their swords against the beauty of your wisdom and defile your splendor.
לָכֵ֗ן הִנְנִ֨י מֵבִ֤יא עָלֶ֙יךָ֙ זָרִ֔ים עָרִיצֵ֖י גּוֹיִ֑ם וְהֵרִ֤יקוּ חַרְבוֹתָם֙ עַל־יְפִ֣י חָכְמָתֶ֔ךָ וְחִלְּל֖וּ יִפְעָתֶֽךָ׃
8They will bring you down to the pit, and you will die a violent death in the heart of the seas.
לַשַּׁ֖חַת יֽוֹרִד֑וּךָ וָמַ֛תָּה מְמוֹתֵ֥י חָלָ֖ל בְּלֵ֥ב יַמִּֽים׃
9Will you still say, "I am a god," in the presence of those who kill you? Yet you are a man and not a god in the hands of those who wound you.
הֶאָמֹ֤ר תֹּאמַר֙ אֱלֹהִ֣ים אָ֔נִי לִפְנֵ֖י הֹֽרְגֶ֑ךָ וְאַתָּ֥ה אָדָ֛ם וְלֹא־אֵ֖ל בְּיַ֥ד מְחַלְלֶֽיךָ׃
10You will die the death of the uncircumcised at the hands of strangers. For I have spoken, declares the Lord GOD.
מוֹתֵ֧י עֲרֵלִ֛ים תָּמ֖וּת בְּיַד־זָרִ֑ים כִּ֚י אֲנִ֣י דִבַּ֔רְתִּי נְאֻ֖ם אֲדֹנָ֥י יְהוִֽה׃ ס
