Judgment against Kedar and Hazor
The Lord announces judgment against the kingdoms of Kedar and Hazor. Nebuchadnezzar, king of Babylon, will march up against these peaceful nomadic peoples and take their tents, flocks, camels, and equipment as plunder. The people will be scattered to every wind, and Hazor will forever become a wilderness, a dwelling place for jackals.
Jeremia 49,28-33
28Concerning Kedar and the kingdoms of Hazor, which Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon defeated, this is what the LORD says: Rise up, march against Kedar and destroy the people of the east!
לְקֵדָ֣ר ׀ וּֽלְמַמְלְכ֣וֹת חָצ֗וֹר אֲשֶׁ֤ר הִכָּה֙ *נבוכדראצור **נְבֽוּכַדְרֶאצַּ֣ר מֶֽלֶךְ־בָּבֶ֔ל כֹּ֖ה אָמַ֣ר יְהוָ֑ה ק֚וּמוּ עֲל֣וּ אֶל־קֵדָ֔ר וְשָׁדְד֖וּ אֶת־בְּנֵי־קֶֽדֶם׃
29Their tents and their flocks will be taken, their tent curtains and all their goods, and their camels carried off. Men will shout to them, "Terror on every side!"
אָהֳלֵיהֶ֤ם וְצֹאנָם֙ יִקָּ֔חוּ יְרִיעוֹתֵיהֶ֧ם וְכָל־כְּלֵיהֶ֛ם וּגְמַלֵּיהֶ֖ם יִשְׂא֣וּ לָהֶ֑ם וְקָרְא֧וּ עֲלֵיהֶ֛ם מָג֖וֹר מִסָּבִֽיב׃
30Flee, run far away! Hide deep down, you inhabitants of Hazor, declares the LORD, for Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon has formed a plan against you; he has devised a scheme against you.
נֻסוּ֩ נֻּ֨דוּ מְאֹ֜ד הֶעְמִ֧יקוּ לָשֶׁ֛בֶת יֹשְׁבֵ֥י חָצ֖וֹר נְאֻם־יְהוָ֑ה כִּֽי־יָעַ֨ץ עֲלֵיכֶ֜ם נְבוּכַדְרֶאצַּ֤ר מֶֽלֶךְ־בָּבֶל֙ עֵצָ֔ה וְחָשַׁ֥ב *עליהם **עֲלֵיכֶ֖ם מַחֲשָׁבָֽה׃
31Rise up, march against a nation at ease, that lives in confidence, declares the LORD—a nation with no gates and no bars, dwelling alone.
ק֣וּמוּ עֲל֗וּ אֶל־גּ֥וֹי שְׁלֵ֛יו יוֹשֵׁ֥ב לָבֶ֖טַח נְאֻם־יְהוָ֑ה לֹא־דְלָתַ֧יִם וְלֹֽא־בְרִ֛יחַ ל֖וֹ בָּדָ֥ד יִשְׁכֹּֽנוּ׃
32Their camels will become plunder, and their vast herds spoil. I will scatter to every wind those who clip the corners of their hair, and I will bring disaster upon them from every side, declares the LORD.
וְהָי֨וּ גְמַלֵּיהֶ֜ם לָבַ֗ז וַהֲמ֤וֹן מִקְנֵיהֶם֙ לְשָׁלָ֔ל וְזֵרִתִ֥ים לְכָל־ר֖וּחַ קְצוּצֵ֣י פֵאָ֑ה וּמִכָּל־עֲבָרָ֛יו אָבִ֥יא אֶת־אֵידָ֖ם נְאֻם־יְהוָֽה׃
33Hazor will become a haunt of jackals, a wasteland forever. No one will live there, no human being will settle in it.
וְהָיְתָ֨ה חָצ֜וֹר לִמְע֥וֹן תַּנִּ֛ים שְׁמָמָ֖ה עַד־עוֹלָ֑ם לֹֽא־יֵשֵׁ֥ב שָׁם֙ אִ֔ישׁ וְלֹֽא־יָג֥וּר בָּ֖הּ בֶּן־אָדָֽם׃ ס
