The People Turn to the Creator and Reject Idols
On that day people will turn to their Creator and look to the Holy One of Israel, no longer to the altars, Asherah poles, and incense altars made by their own hands. The fortified cities will be abandoned like a wasteland. Because the people have forgotten their God of salvation and their rock of refuge, they plant beautiful vines and foreign shoots, but on the day of sickness the harvest will become a heap of pain that cannot be healed. Isaiah 17:7-11
Jesaja 17,7-11
7On that day people will look to their Maker, and their eyes will turn to the Holy One of Israel.
בַּיּ֣וֹם הַה֔וּא יִשְׁעֶ֥ה הָאָדָ֖ם עַל־עֹשֵׂ֑הוּ וְעֵינָ֕יו אֶל־קְד֥וֹשׁ יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל תִּרְאֶֽינָה׃
8They will no longer look to the altars, the work of their own hands, nor gaze at what their fingers have made, the Asherah poles and the incense altars.
וְלֹ֣א יִשְׁעֶ֔ה אֶל־הַֽמִּזְבְּח֖וֹת מַעֲשֵׂ֣ה יָדָ֑יו וַאֲשֶׁ֨ר עָשׂ֤וּ אֶצְבְּעֹתָיו֙ לֹ֣א יִרְאֶ֔ה וְהָאֲשֵׁרִ֖ים וְהָחַמָּנִֽים׃
9On that day their fortified cities will be like the abandoned places of the thicket and the topmost bough, left empty before the Israelites; and all will be desolation.
בַּיּ֨וֹם הַה֜וּא יִהְי֣וּ ׀ עָרֵ֣י מָעֻזּ֗וֹ כַּעֲזוּבַ֤ת הַחֹ֙רֶשׁ֙ וְהָ֣אָמִ֔יר אֲשֶׁ֣ר עָזְב֔וּ מִפְּנֵ֖י בְּנֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל וְהָיְתָ֖ה שְׁמָמָֽה׃
10For you have forgotten the God of your salvation; you have not remembered the Rock, your refuge. That is why you plant your lovely gardens and set out cuttings from a foreign vine.
כִּ֤י שָׁכַ֙חַתְּ֙ אֱלֹהֵ֣י יִשְׁעֵ֔ךְ וְצ֥וּר מָעֻזֵּ֖ךְ לֹ֣א זָכָ֑רְתְּ עַל־כֵּ֗ן תִּטְּעִי֙ נִטְעֵ֣י נַעֲמָנִ֔ים וּזְמֹ֥רַת זָ֖ר תִּזְרָעֶֽנּוּ׃
11The day you plant them, you make them grow; the morning you sow, you bring them into bloom — but the harvest vanishes on the day of sickness and incurable pain.
בְּי֤וֹם נִטְעֵךְ֙ תְּשַׂגְשֵׂ֔גִי וּבַבֹּ֖קֶר זַרְעֵ֣ךְ תַּפְרִ֑יחִי נֵ֥ד קָצִ֛יר בְּי֥וֹם נַחֲלָ֖ה וּכְאֵ֥ב אָנֽוּשׁ׃ ס
