God's Temple and the World's Wisdom
Paul reminds the Corinthians that they are God's holy temple where the Spirit lives, and warns against destroying the temple. He says that the world's wisdom is foolishness for God, and that no one should boast about human leaders, for all things belong to them, and they belong to Christ. 1 Corinthians 3:16-23
1. Korinttilaiskirje 3,16-23
16Do you not know that you are God's temple and that God's Spirit dwells in you?
Οὐκ οἴδατε ὅτι ναὸς θεοῦ ἐστε καὶ τὸ πνεῦμα τοῦ θεοῦ ⸂οἰκεῖ ἐν ὑμῖν⸃;
17If anyone destroys God's temple, God will destroy him. For God's temple is holy, and that temple is you.
18Let no one deceive himself. If any of you thinks he is wise in this age, let him become a fool, so that he may become wise.
19For the wisdom of this world is foolishness in God's sight. As it is written: "He catches the wise in their own craftiness."
20And again: "The Lord knows the thoughts of the wise, that they are futile."
21So let no one boast in men, for everything is yours:
22whether Paul or Apollos or Cephas, whether the world or life or death, whether the present or the future—all is yours,
23and you are Christ's, and Christ is God's.
