The Healing of the Crippled Woman on the Sabbath
Jesus teaches in a synagogue on the Sabbath and heals a woman who has been crippled for eighteen years. The leader of the synagogue is angry because this happens on the Sabbath, but Jesus answers that when one unties an ox or donkey and leads it to water on the Sabbath, then this daughter of Abraham should also be freed from Satan's bonds.

10He was teaching in one of the synagogues on the Sabbath,
Ἦν δὲ διδάσκων ἐν μιᾷ τῶν συναγωγῶν ἐν τοῖς σάββασιν.
11and there was a woman there who for eighteen years had been afflicted by a spirit of weakness. She was bent over and could not straighten up at all.
καὶ ἰδοὺ ⸀γυνὴ πνεῦμα ἔχουσα ἀσθενείας ἔτη ⸀δεκαοκτώ, καὶ ἦν συγκύπτουσα καὶ μὴ δυναμένη ἀνακύψαι εἰς τὸ παντελές.
12When Jesus saw her, he called her over and said to her, "Woman, you are set free from your infirmity."
ἰδὼν δὲ αὐτὴν ὁ Ἰησοῦς προσεφώνησεν καὶ εἶπεν αὐτῇ· Γύναι, ἀπολέλυσαι τῆς ἀσθενείας σου,
13He laid his hands on her, and immediately she stood up straight and began praising God.
καὶ ἐπέθηκεν αὐτῇ τὰς χεῖρας· καὶ παραχρῆμα ἀνωρθώθη, καὶ ἐδόξαζεν τὸν θεόν.
14But the ruler of the synagogue, indignant that Jesus had healed on the Sabbath, said to the crowd, "There are six days for work. Come and be healed on those days, not on the Sabbath."
ἀποκριθεὶς δὲ ὁ ἀρχισυνάγωγος, ἀγανακτῶν ὅτι τῷ σαββάτῳ ἐθεράπευσεν ὁ Ἰησοῦς, ἔλεγεν τῷ ὄχλῳ ⸀ὅτι Ἓξ ἡμέραι εἰσὶν ἐν αἷς δεῖ ἐργάζεσθαι· ἐν ⸀αὐταῖς οὖν ἐρχόμενοι θεραπεύεσθε καὶ μὴ τῇ ἡμέρᾳ τοῦ σαββάτου.
15The Lord answered him, "You hypocrites! Doesn't each of you untie his ox or donkey from the stall on the Sabbath and lead it out to water?
ἀπεκρίθη ⸀δὲ αὐτῷ ὁ κύριος καὶ εἶπεν· Ὑποκριταί, ἕκαστος ὑμῶν τῷ σαββάτῳ οὐ λύει τὸν βοῦν αὐτοῦ ἢ τὸν ὄνον ἀπὸ τῆς φάτνης καὶ ⸀ἀπαγαγὼν ποτίζει;
16Then should not this woman, a daughter of Abraham whom Satan has kept bound for eighteen years, be set free from her bonds on the Sabbath?"
ταύτην δὲ θυγατέρα Ἀβραὰμ οὖσαν, ἣν ἔδησεν ὁ Σατανᾶς ἰδοὺ δέκα καὶ ὀκτὼ ἔτη, οὐκ ἔδει λυθῆναι ἀπὸ τοῦ δεσμοῦ τούτου τῇ ἡμέρᾳ τοῦ σαββάτου;
17At these words all his opponents were put to shame, and the whole crowd rejoiced at all the wonderful things he was doing.
καὶ ταῦτα λέγοντος αὐτοῦ κατῃσχύνοντο πάντες οἱ ἀντικείμενοι αὐτῷ, καὶ πᾶς ὁ ὄχλος ἔχαιρεν ἐπὶ πᾶσιν τοῖς ἐνδόξοις τοῖς γινομένοις ὑπʼ αὐτοῦ.
