Profeetat
The Glory of the Lord Comes to the Temple
Ezekiel sees the glory of the God of Israel coming from the east and filling the new temple. The Lord speaks from the house and declares that this is the place for his throne, where he will dwell among the people of Israel forever, provided they stay away from idolatry and the desecration of his name.
Hesekiel 43,1-9
1Then he brought me to the gate, the gate facing east.
2And there was the glory of the God of Israel, coming from the east. His voice was like the roar of mighty waters, and the earth shone with his glory.
3The appearance of the vision I saw was like the vision I had seen when I came to destroy the city, and the visions were like the vision I had seen by the Kebar River. And I fell on my face.
4Then the glory of the LORD entered the temple through the gate that faces east.
5The Spirit lifted me up and brought me into the inner court, and there the glory of the LORD filled the temple.
6I heard someone speaking to me out of the temple, while the man stood beside me.
7He said to me: Son of man, this is the place of my throne and the place for the soles of my feet, where I will dwell among the people of Israel forever. The house of Israel shall no longer defile my holy name—neither they nor their kings—by their whoring and by the corpses of their kings at their death,
8setting their threshold next to my threshold and their doorposts beside my doorposts, with only a wall between me and them. They defiled my holy name by the detestable things they did, and so I consumed them in my anger.
9Now let them put away their whoring and the corpses of their kings far from me, and I will dwell among them forever.
