The Shepherd is Struck and the Sheep Scattered
The Lord of hosts commands the sword to wake against his shepherd, the man who stands close to him. When the shepherd is struck, the sheep are scattered, and the Lord turns his hand against the little ones. Two-thirds of the people in the land shall be cut off, but one-third shall remain. This third part the Lord will bring through the fire; he will refine them as silver is refined, and test them as gold is tested. They will call on my name, and I will answer them: 'This is my people.' And they will say: 'The Lord is my God.'
Sakarja 13,7-9
7Awake, O sword, against my shepherd, against the man who stands beside me, declares the LORD of hosts. Strike the shepherd, and the sheep will be scattered; and I will turn my hand against the little ones.
חֶ֗רֶב עוּרִ֤י עַל־רֹעִי֙ וְעַל־גֶּ֣בֶר עֲמִיתִ֔י נְאֻ֖ם יְהוָ֣ה צְבָא֑וֹת הַ֤ךְ אֶת־הָֽרֹעֶה֙ וּתְפוּצֶ֣יןָ הַצֹּ֔אן וַהֲשִׁבֹתִ֥י יָדִ֖י עַל־הַצֹּעֲרִֽים׃
8In all the land, declares the LORD, two thirds will be cut off and perish, but a third will be left in it.
וְהָיָ֤ה בְכָל־הָאָ֙רֶץ֙ נְאֻם־יְהוָ֔ה פִּֽי־שְׁנַ֣יִם בָּ֔הּ יִכָּרְת֖וּ יִגְוָ֑עוּ וְהַשְּׁלִשִׁ֖ית יִוָּ֥תֶר בָּֽהּ׃
9And I will bring that third through the fire; I will refine them as silver is refined and test them as gold is tested. They will call on my name, and I will answer them. I will say, "They are my people," and they will say, "The LORD is my God."
וְהֵבֵאתִ֤י אֶת־הַשְּׁלִשִׁית֙ בָּאֵ֔שׁ וּצְרַפְתִּים֙ כִּצְרֹ֣ף אֶת־הַכֶּ֔סֶף וּבְחַנְתִּ֖ים כִּבְחֹ֣ן אֶת־הַזָּהָ֑ב ה֣וּא ׀ יִקְרָ֣א בִשְׁמִ֗י וַֽאֲנִי֙ אֶעֱנֶ֣ה אֹת֔וֹ אָמַ֙רְתִּי֙ עַמִּ֣י ה֔וּא וְה֥וּא יֹאמַ֖ר יְהוָ֥ה אֱלֹהָֽי׃ ס
