Jesus Predicts His Death and Resurrection

On the way up to Jerusalem, Jesus took the twelve disciples aside and predicted that the Son of Man would be handed over to the chief priests and teachers of the law, condemned to death, delivered to the Gentiles to be mocked, flogged, and crucified, but on the third day he would be raised.

Matteuksen evankeliumi 20,17-19

17As Jesus was going up to Jerusalem, he took the twelve disciples aside and said to them on the way:
18"Look, we are going up to Jerusalem, and the Son of Man will be handed over to the chief priests and the scribes. They will condemn him to death
19and hand him over to the Gentiles to be mocked and flogged and crucified—and on the third day he will be raised."
