King Amon and His Death
Amon became king after his father Manasseh at the age of 22 and reigned for two years in Jerusalem. He worshiped the idols that his father had made, but he did not humble himself before the Lord as his father had done. His servants conspired against him and killed him in his own house. The people of the land struck down the conspirators and made his son Josiah king in his place.
2. Aikakirja 33,21-25
21Amon was twenty-two years old when he became king, and he reigned two years in Jerusalem.
בֶּן־עֶשְׂרִ֧ים וּשְׁתַּ֛יִם שָׁנָ֖ה אָמ֣וֹן בְּמָלְכ֑וֹ וּשְׁתַּ֣יִם שָׁנִ֔ים מָלַ֖ךְ בִּֽירוּשָׁלָֽ͏ִם׃
22He did what was evil in the eyes of the LORD, as his father Manasseh had done. Amon sacrificed to all the idols his father Manasseh had made, and he served them.
וַיַּ֤עַשׂ הָרַע֙ בְּעֵינֵ֣י יְהוָ֔ה כַּאֲשֶׁ֥ר עָשָׂ֖ה מְנַשֶּׁ֣ה אָבִ֑יו וּֽלְכָל־הַפְּסִילִ֗ים אֲשֶׁ֤ר עָשָׂה֙ מְנַשֶּׁ֣ה אָבִ֔יו זִבַּ֥ח אָמ֖וֹן וַיַּֽעַבְדֵֽם׃
23But he did not humble himself before the LORD as his father Manasseh had done; instead, Amon only multiplied his guilt.
וְלֹ֤א נִכְנַע֙ מִלִּפְנֵ֣י יְהוָ֔ה כְּהִכָּנַ֖ע מְנַשֶּׁ֣ה אָבִ֑יו כִּ֛י ה֥וּא אָמ֖וֹן הִרְבָּ֥ה אַשְׁמָֽה׃
24His servants conspired against him and killed him in his own house.
וַיִּקְשְׁר֤וּ עָלָיו֙ עֲבָדָ֔יו וַיְמִיתֻ֖הוּ בְּבֵיתֽוֹ׃
25But the people of the land struck down all who had conspired against King Amon, and they made his son Josiah king in his place.
וַיַּכּוּ֙ עַם־הָאָ֔רֶץ אֵ֥ת כָּל־הַקֹּֽשְׁרִ֖ים עַל־הַמֶּ֣לֶךְ אָמ֑וֹן וַיַּמְלִ֧יכוּ עַם־הָאָ֛רֶץ אֶת־יֹאשִׁיָּ֥הוּ בְנ֖וֹ תַּחְתָּֽיו׃ פ
