The Church in Antioch and the Teaching of Saul

After the persecution, the gospel spreads to the Gentiles in Antioch, where a large number turn to God. The church in Jerusalem sends Barnabas, who brings Saul from Tarsus. They teach together for a whole year, and it is here that the disciples are first called Christians.

Apostolien teot 11,19-26

19Now those who had been scattered by the persecution that arose over Stephen traveled as far as Phoenicia, Cyprus, and Antioch, speaking the word to no one except Jews.
20But some of them, men of Cyprus and Cyrene, came to Antioch and began speaking to the Greeks as well, proclaiming the good news of the Lord Jesus.^f
21The hand of the Lord was with them, and a great number believed and turned to the Lord.
22News of them reached the ears of the church in Jerusalem, and they sent Barnabas off to Antioch.
23When he arrived and saw the grace of God, he rejoiced, and he encouraged them all to remain faithful to the Lord with steadfast hearts,
24for he was a good man, full of the Holy Spirit and of faith. And a large number of people were added to the Lord.
25Then Barnabas went to Tarsus to look for Saul,
26and when he found him, he brought him to Antioch. For a whole year they met with the church and taught a great many people. It was in Antioch that the disciples were first called Christians.
