The Bronze Basin
The Lord commanded Moses to make a bronze basin with a bronze base and place it between the tent of meeting and the altar. Aaron and his sons were to wash their hands and feet with water from the basin before entering the tent of meeting or approaching the altar to serve, so that they would not die. This was to be a permanent statute for the priests throughout their generations.
2. Mooseksen kirja 30,17-21
17The LORD said to Moses:
וַיְדַבֵּ֥ר יְהוָ֖ה אֶל־מֹשֶׁ֥ה לֵּאמֹֽר׃
18"Make a bronze basin with a bronze stand for washing. Set it between the tent of meeting and the altar, and put water in it.
וְעָשִׂ֜יתָ כִּיּ֥וֹר נְחֹ֛שֶׁת וְכַנּ֥וֹ נְחֹ֖שֶׁת לְרָחְצָ֑ה וְנָתַתָּ֣ אֹת֗וֹ בֵּֽין־אֹ֤הֶל מוֹעֵד֙ וּבֵ֣ין הַמִּזְבֵּ֔חַ וְנָתַתָּ֥ שָׁ֖מָּה מָֽיִם׃
19Aaron and his sons shall wash their hands and feet with water from it.
וְרָחֲצ֛וּ אַהֲרֹ֥ן וּבָנָ֖יו מִמֶּ֑נּוּ אֶת־יְדֵיהֶ֖ם וְאֶת־רַגְלֵיהֶֽם׃
20When they enter the tent of meeting, they shall wash with water so that they do not die; likewise when they approach the altar to minister, to burn a food offering to the LORD.
בְּבֹאָ֞ם אֶל־אֹ֧הֶל מוֹעֵ֛ד יִרְחֲצוּ־מַ֖יִם וְלֹ֣א יָמֻ֑תוּ א֣וֹ בְגִשְׁתָּ֤ם אֶל־הַמִּזְבֵּ֙חַ֙ לְשָׁרֵ֔ת לְהַקְטִ֥יר אִשֶּׁ֖ה לַֽיהוָֽה׃
21They shall wash their hands and feet so that they do not die. This shall be a lasting statute for them, for Aaron and his descendants throughout their generations."
וְרָחֲצ֛וּ יְדֵיהֶ֥ם וְרַגְלֵיהֶ֖ם וְלֹ֣א יָמֻ֑תוּ וְהָיְתָ֨ה לָהֶ֧ם חָק־עוֹלָ֛ם ל֥וֹ וּלְזַרְע֖וֹ לְדֹרֹתָֽם׃ פ
