A good name is worth more than great riches; to be held in esteem is better than silver or gold.

Rich and poor meet together; the LORD is the maker of them all.

The prudent see danger and take cover, but the simple walk on and pay the price.

Humility and the fear of the LORD bring their reward: riches and honor and life.

The word שָׁלִישִׁים (shalishim) in verse 20 is debated. The Ketiv form שלשום and the Qere form שָׁלִישִׁים may mean "thirty" (proverbs) or "excellent things."
