Areli
Son of Gad and ancestor of the Arelites
Areli was the youngest son of Gad, who in turn was a son of Jacob and the maidservant Zilpah. As part of Jacob's extended household of seventy persons, he went to Egypt when the family settled in Goshen. Areli became the founder of the clan of the Arelites, which formed one of the seven family groups within the tribe of Gad at the census on the plains of Moab (Num 26:17). Although little is known about Areli as an individual, his place in the genealogies shows that he had lasting significance for the organization and identity of the tribe of Gad.
