Phygellus was a Christian from the province of Asia who turned away from the apostle Paul at a time when Paul was imprisoned. He is mentioned only once in the Bible, in 2 Timothy 1:15, where Paul expresses sorrow that everyone in Asia, including Phygellus and Hermogenes, had deserted him. He represents those who abandoned the apostle in his hour of greatest need.
