Henadad was the head of a Levitical family that played an important role in the rebuilding of Jerusalem after the Babylonian exile. His descendants actively participated in building the walls of Jerusalem under Nehemiah and in temple service. The family is mentioned several times in Ezra and Nehemiah as faithful servants in the restoration work.
9So Jeshua with his sons and kinsmen, and Kadmiel with his sons, the descendants of Judah, stood together to oversee those working on the house of God, along with the sons of Henadad with their sons and kinsmen, the Levites.
18Next to him their fellow Levites made repairs under Binnui son of Henadad, ruler of the other half of the district of Keilah.[fn: The Hebrew text reads Bavvai here; he is probably the same man called Binnui in verse 24.]
