Mentioned among the sons of Benjamin

Huppim is listed as one of Benjamin's sons in the genealogy of Jacob's family that went down to Egypt.

21The sons of Benjamin: Bela, Becher, Ashbel, Gera, Naaman, Ehi, Rosh, Muppim, Huppim, and Ard.

Jacob's Family Goes to Egypt

As part of Jacob's extended family, Huppim was among the seventy people who traveled to Egypt during the famine, where Joseph served as second-in-command.

26All the persons belonging to Jacob who came to Egypt, his own direct descendants, not counting the wives of Jacob's sons, numbered sixty-six in all.

Mentioned in the Genealogies of Chronicles

Huppim is mentioned again in 1 Chronicles in connection with Benjamin's genealogy, where the descendants of the tribe are recorded.

12Shuppim and Huppim were the sons of Ir; Hushim was the son of Aher.

The Inheritance of the Tribe of Benjamin

As a patriarch within Benjamin's lineage, Huppim contributed to the continued existence of this tribe, which later produced Israel's first king, Saul.

1Benjamin fathered Bela his firstborn, Ashbel the second, Aharah the third,
