Joseph Barsabbas, also called Justus, was one of two candidates proposed to replace Judas Iscariot as an apostle. He had been with Jesus throughout his entire ministry, from baptism to ascension, but the lot fell on Matthias. He represents the faithful disciples who followed Jesus without being named among the Twelve.
