Mikneiah (also spelled Mikneyah) was a Levite appointed to serve as a musician and gatekeeper during the transport of the ark of the covenant to Jerusalem. He belonged to the second order of Levites, played the harp, and participated in the praise songs during King David's reign.

Mikneiah was appointed by the heads of the Levites to serve as a musician in the second order, along with other Levites, to play stringed instruments during the transfer of the ark.

18and with them their relatives of the second rank: Zechariah, Jaaziel, Shemiramoth, Jehiel, Unni, Eliab, Benaiah, Maaseiah, Mattithiah, Eliphelehu, Mikneiah, and Obed-Edom and Jeiel, the gatekeepers.

וְעִמָּהֶ֖ם אֲחֵיהֶ֣ם הַמִּשְׁנִ֑ים זְכַרְיָ֡הוּ בֵּ֡ן וְיַֽעֲזִיאֵ֡ל וּשְׁמֽ͏ִירָמ֡וֹת וִיחִיאֵ֣ל ׀ וְעֻנִּ֡י אֱלִיאָ֡ב וּבְנָיָ֡הוּ וּמַֽעֲשֵׂיָ֡הוּ וּמַתִּתְיָהוּ֩ וֶאֱלִ֨יפְלֵ֜הוּ וּמִקְנֵיָ֨הוּ וְעֹבֵ֥ד אֱדֹ֛ם וִֽיעִיאֵ֖ל הַשֹּׁעֲרִֽים׃ ‬

Played the harp during the journey of the ark

Mikneiah was assigned to play the harp (on alamot) while the ark of the covenant was brought up to Jerusalem with great joy and praise.

21and Mattithiah, Eliphelehu, Mikneiah, Obed-Edom, Jeiel, and Azaziah were to lead with lyres set to sheminith.

וּמַתִּתְיָ֣הוּ וֶאֱלִֽיפְלֵ֗הוּ וּמִקְנֵיָ֙הוּ֙ וְעֹבֵ֣ד אֱדֹ֔ם וִֽיעִיאֵ֖ל וַעֲזַזְיָ֑הוּ בְּכִנֹּר֥וֹת עַל־הַשְּׁמִינִ֖ית לְנַצֵּֽחַ׃ ‬

Participated in the procession with the ark of the covenant

Mikneja was among the Levites who participated in the solemn procession when the ark was brought from the house of Obed-Edom to Jerusalem under King David's leadership.

25So David, the elders of Israel, and the commanders of thousands went with rejoicing to bring up the ark of the covenant of the LORD from the house of Obed-Edom.

וַיְהִ֥י דָוִ֛יד וְזִקְנֵ֥י יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל וְשָׂרֵ֣י הָאֲלָפִ֑ים הַהֹֽלְכִ֗ים לְֽהַעֲל֞וֹת אֶת־אֲר֧וֹן בְּרִית־יְהוָ֛ה מִן־בֵּ֥ית עֹבֵֽד־אֱדֹ֖ם בְּשִׂמְחָֽה׃ ס ‬

Service as a gatekeeper at the ark

Mikneja also served as a gatekeeper at the ark of the covenant, showing that he had a dual role both as a musician and a guardian.
