Neria was the father of Baruch, who served as the faithful scribe and secretary to the prophet Jeremiah. Through his son Baruch, Neria's family became closely linked to the prophet's ministry during one of Judah's most dramatic periods. He was also the father of Seraiah, who received an important mission from Jeremiah.
12and I gave the deed to Baruch son of Neriah, son of Mahseiah, in the presence of my cousin Hanamel, of the witnesses who had signed the deed, and of all the Judeans sitting in the courtyard of the guard.
