Shemiramoth was a Levite who served as a musician and singer during King David's reign. He was appointed to play the harp and participate in worship before the ark of the covenant when it was brought to Jerusalem. He is also mentioned among the Levites who taught the people the law during King Jehoshaphat's reign.

Shemiramoth was appointed by the heads of the Levites to be among the singers who would play instruments and sing with joy when the ark of the covenant was brought to Jerusalem.

Regular service before the ark

After the ark was placed in the tent David had pitched for it, Shemiramoth was appointed to serve regularly with music and praise before the ark.

4He appointed some of the Levites to minister before the ark of the LORD, to make petition, to give thanks, and to praise the LORD, the God of Israel:

The Song of Praise to the Lord

Shemiramoth was among the Levites who participated in the praise when David entrusted a psalm of thanksgiving to Asaph and his brothers to give thanks to the Lord.

7That day David first appointed Asaph and his brothers to give thanks to the LORD in this way:

Teaching the Law under Jehoshaphat

A Levite named Shemiramoth was among those King Jehoshaphat sent out to teach the people the law of the Lord in the cities of Judah.

7In the third year of his reign he sent his officials—Ben-hail, Obadiah, Zechariah, Nethanel, and Micaiah—to teach in the cities of Judah,
