Bartimaeus
The blind beggar Bartimaeus, the son of Timaeus, sits by the road outside Jericho. When he hears that Jesus is passing by, he cries out: "Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!" He does not let the crowd stop him from shouting at him; instead, he throws off his cloak and comes to Jesus. At Jesus' question about what he wants, he asks to regain his sight, and Jesus heals him because of his faith. Bartimaeus then follows Jesus on the way.
Marc 10,46-52
46Then they came to Jericho. As he was leaving Jericho with his disciples and a large crowd, Bartimaeus son of Timaeus, a blind beggar, was sitting by the roadside.
Καὶ ἔρχονται εἰς Ἰεριχώ. καὶ ἐκπορευομένου αὐτοῦ ἀπὸ Ἰεριχὼ καὶ τῶν μαθητῶν αὐτοῦ καὶ ὄχλου ἱκανοῦ ⸀ὁ υἱὸς Τιμαίου Βαρτιμαῖος ⸀τυφλὸς ⸂προσαίτης ἐκάθητο παρὰ τὴν ὁδόν⸃.
47When he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to shout, "Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!"
καὶ ἀκούσας ὅτι Ἰησοῦς ὁ ⸀Ναζαρηνός ἐστιν ἤρξατο κράζειν καὶ λέγειν· ⸀Υἱὲ Δαυὶδ Ἰησοῦ, ἐλέησόν με.
48Many rebuked him and told him to be quiet, but he shouted all the louder, "Son of David, have mercy on me!"
καὶ ἐπετίμων αὐτῷ πολλοὶ ἵνα σιωπήσῃ· ὁ δὲ πολλῷ μᾶλλον ἔκραζεν· Υἱὲ Δαυίδ, ἐλέησόν με.
49Jesus stopped and said, "Call him." So they called the blind man, saying, "Take heart! Get up; he is calling you."
καὶ στὰς ὁ Ἰησοῦς εἶπεν· ⸂Φωνήσατε αὐτόν⸃. καὶ φωνοῦσι τὸν τυφλὸν λέγοντες αὐτῷ· Θάρσει, ⸀ἔγειρε, φωνεῖ σε.
50Throwing off his cloak, he jumped up and came to Jesus.
ὁ δὲ ἀποβαλὼν τὸ ἱμάτιον αὐτοῦ ⸀ἀναπηδήσας ἦλθεν πρὸς τὸν Ἰησοῦν.
51"What do you want me to do for you?" Jesus asked him. The blind man said, "Rabbouni, I want to see again."
καὶ ἀποκριθεὶς ⸂αὐτῷ ὁ Ἰησοῦς εἶπεν⸃· Τί ⸂σοι θέλεις ποιήσω⸃; ὁ δὲ τυφλὸς εἶπεν αὐτῷ· Ραββουνι, ἵνα ἀναβλέψω.
52"Go," Jesus said to him, "your faith has healed you." Immediately he received his sight and followed him on the road.
⸂καὶ ὁ⸃ Ἰησοῦς εἶπεν αὐτῷ· Ὕπαγε, ἡ πίστις σου σέσωκέν σε. καὶ ⸀εὐθὺς ἀνέβλεψεν, καὶ ἠκολούθει ⸀αὐτῷ ἐν τῇ ὁδῷ.
Luc 18,35-43
35As Jesus approached Jericho, a blind man was sitting by the roadside begging.
Ἐγένετο δὲ ἐν τῷ ἐγγίζειν αὐτὸν εἰς Ἰεριχὼ τυφλός τις ἐκάθητο παρὰ τὴν ὁδὸν ⸀ἐπαιτῶν.
36When he heard a crowd passing by, he kept asking what this meant.
ἀκούσας δὲ ὄχλου διαπορευομένου ἐπυνθάνετο ⸀τί εἴη τοῦτο·
37They told him, "Jesus of Nazareth is passing by."
ἀπήγγειλαν δὲ αὐτῷ ὅτι Ἰησοῦς ὁ Ναζωραῖος παρέρχεται.
38So he called out, "Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!"
καὶ ἐβόησεν λέγων· Ἰησοῦ υἱὲ Δαυίδ, ἐλέησόν με.
39Those in front rebuked him and told him to be quiet, but he shouted all the louder, "Son of David, have mercy on me!"
καὶ οἱ προάγοντες ἐπετίμων αὐτῷ ἵνα ⸀σιγήσῃ· αὐτὸς δὲ πολλῷ μᾶλλον ἔκραζεν· Υἱὲ Δαυίδ, ἐλέησόν με.
40Jesus stopped and ordered that the man be brought to him. When he came near, Jesus asked him,
σταθεὶς δὲ ⸀ὁ Ἰησοῦς ἐκέλευσεν αὐτὸν ἀχθῆναι πρὸς αὐτόν. ἐγγίσαντος δὲ αὐτοῦ ἐπηρώτησεν αὐτόν·
41"What do you want me to do for you?" "Lord, let me see again," he said.
⸀Τί σοι θέλεις ποιήσω; ὁ δὲ εἶπεν· Κύριε, ἵνα ἀναβλέψω.
42Jesus said to him, "Receive your sight. Your faith has saved you."
καὶ ὁ Ἰησοῦς εἶπεν αὐτῷ· Ἀνάβλεψον· ἡ πίστις σου σέσωκέν σε.
43Immediately he could see, and he followed him, glorifying God. And all the people who saw it gave praise to God.
καὶ παραχρῆμα ἀνέβλεψεν, καὶ ἠκολούθει αὐτῷ δοξάζων τὸν θεόν. καὶ πᾶς ὁ λαὸς ἰδὼν ἔδωκεν αἶνον τῷ θεῷ.
