David defeats the Philistines at Baal-perazim
When the Philistines heard that David had been anointed king over all Israel, they went up to search for him and spread out in the Valley of Rephaim. David sought counsel from God and received a promise of victory. At Baal-perazim he struck down the enemy, saying that God had broken through like bursting waters. The Philistines left their idols behind, and David ordered them to be burned.
1 Chroniques 14,8-12
8When the Philistines heard that David had been anointed king over all Israel, they all marched up to search him out. David heard of it and went out to face them.
וַיִּשְׁמְע֣וּ פְלִשְׁתִּ֗ים כִּי־נִמְשַׁ֨ח דָּוִ֤יד לְמֶ֙לֶךְ֙ עַל־כָּל־יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל וַיַּעֲל֥וּ כָל־פְּלִשְׁתִּ֖ים לְבַקֵּ֣שׁ אֶת־דָּוִ֑יד וַיִּשְׁמַ֣ע דָּוִ֔יד וַיֵּצֵ֖א לִפְנֵיהֶֽם׃
9The Philistines came and raided the Valley of Rephaim.
וּפְלִשְׁתִּ֖ים בָּ֑אוּ וַֽיִּפְשְׁט֖וּ בְּעֵ֥מֶק רְפָאִֽים׃
10So David inquired of God, "Shall I attack the Philistines? Will you hand them over to me?" The LORD answered him, "Attack. I will hand them over to you."
וַיִּשְׁאַ֨ל דָּוִ֤יד בֵּאלֹהִים֙ לֵאמֹ֔ר הַאֶֽעֱלֶה֙ עַל־*פלשתיים **פְּלִשְׁתִּ֔ים וּנְתַתָּ֖ם בְּיָדִ֑י וַיֹּ֨אמֶר ל֤וֹ יְהוָה֙ עֲלֵ֔ה וּנְתַתִּ֖ים בְּיָדֶֽךָ׃
11So they went up to Baal-perazim, and there David struck them down. David said, "God has broken through my enemies by my hand like a bursting flood." That is why they named the place Baal-perazim, which means "the lord of breakthroughs."
וַיַּעֲל֥וּ בְּבַֽעַל־פְּרָצִים֮ וַיַּכֵּ֣ם שָׁ֣ם דָּוִיד֒ וַיֹּ֣אמֶר דָּוִ֔יד פָּרַ֨ץ הָֽאֱלֹהִ֧ים אֶת־אוֹיְבַ֛י בְּיָדִ֖י כְּפֶ֣רֶץ מָ֑יִם עַל־כֵּ֗ן קָֽרְא֛וּ שֵֽׁם־הַמָּק֥וֹם הַה֖וּא בַּ֥עַל פְּרָצִֽים׃
12The Philistines had abandoned their gods there, and at David's command they were burned in the fire.
וַיַּעַזְבוּ־שָׁ֖ם אֶת־אֱלֹֽהֵיהֶ֑ם וַיֹּ֣אמֶר דָּוִ֔יד וַיִּשָּׂרְפ֖וּ בָּאֵֽשׁ׃ פ
