Healing and Feeding of the Four Thousand by the Sea of Galilee
Jesus went to the Sea of Galilee and went up on a mountain. Large crowds came to him with mute, blind, paralyzed, and disabled people, and he healed them all, so that the people praised the God of Israel. After three days Jesus had compassion for the crowd, and he took seven loaves of bread and a few small fish, gave thanks, broke them, and had the disciples distribute them. All four thousand men, besides women and children, were filled, and seven full baskets of leftovers were collected. Then he got into a boat and went to the region of Magadan.
Matthieu 15,29-39
29Jesus moved on from there and came along the Sea of Galilee. He went up on the mountainside and sat down.
Καὶ μεταβὰς ἐκεῖθεν ὁ Ἰησοῦς ἦλθεν παρὰ τὴν θάλασσαν τῆς Γαλιλαίας, καὶ ἀναβὰς εἰς τὸ ὄρος ἐκάθητο ἐκεῖ.
30Large crowds came to him, bringing the mute, the blind, the lame, the crippled, and many others. They laid them at his feet, and he healed them,
καὶ προσῆλθον αὐτῷ ὄχλοι πολλοὶ ἔχοντες μεθʼ ἑαυτῶν ⸂κωφούς, τυφλούς, χωλούς, κυλλούς⸃, καὶ ἑτέρους πολλούς, καὶ ἔρριψαν αὐτοὺς παρὰ τοὺς πόδας ⸀αὐτοῦ, καὶ ἐθεράπευσεν αὐτούς·
31so that the crowd was amazed to see the mute speaking, the crippled restored, the lame walking, and the blind seeing. And they glorified the God of Israel.
ὥστε ⸂τὸν ὄχλον⸃ θαυμάσαι βλέποντας κωφοὺς λαλοῦντας ⸂κυλλοὺς ὑγιεῖς⸃ ⸀καὶ χωλοὺς περιπατοῦντας καὶ τυφλοὺς βλέποντας· καὶ ἐδόξασαν τὸν θεὸν Ἰσραήλ.
32Jesus called his disciples to him and said, "I have compassion on the crowd. They have been with me three days now and have nothing to eat, and I do not want to send them away hungry, or they may collapse on the way."
Ὁ δὲ Ἰησοῦς προσκαλεσάμενος τοὺς μαθητὰς αὐτοῦ εἶπεν· Σπλαγχνίζομαι ἐπὶ τὸν ὄχλον, ὅτι ἤδη ἡμέραι τρεῖς προσμένουσίν μοι καὶ οὐκ ἔχουσιν τί φάγωσιν· καὶ ἀπολῦσαι αὐτοὺς νήστεις οὐ θέλω, μήποτε ἐκλυθῶσιν ἐν τῇ ὁδῷ.
33The disciples said to him, "Where in this desolate place could we get enough bread to feed such a crowd?"
καὶ λέγουσιν αὐτῷ οἱ ⸀μαθηταί· Πόθεν ἡμῖν ἐν ἐρημίᾳ ἄρτοι τοσοῦτοι ὥστε χορτάσαι ὄχλον τοσοῦτον;
34"How many loaves do you have?" Jesus asked. "Seven," they said, "and a few small fish."
καὶ λέγει αὐτοῖς ὁ Ἰησοῦς· Πόσους ἄρτους ἔχετε; οἱ δὲ εἶπαν· Ἑπτά, καὶ ὀλίγα ἰχθύδια.
35He told the crowd to sit down on the ground,
καὶ ⸀παραγγείλας ⸂τῷ ὄχλῳ⸃ ἀναπεσεῖν ἐπὶ τὴν γῆν
36and he took the seven loaves and the fish, gave thanks, broke them, and gave them to the disciples, and the disciples gave them to the crowds.
⸀ἔλαβεν τοὺς ἑπτὰ ἄρτους καὶ τοὺς ἰχθύας ⸀καὶ εὐχαριστήσας ἔκλασεν καὶ ⸀ἐδίδου τοῖς ⸀μαθηταῖς οἱ δὲ μαθηταὶ ⸂τοῖς ὄχλοις⸃.
37They all ate and were satisfied, and they gathered up seven baskets full of the broken pieces left over.
καὶ ἔφαγον πάντες καὶ ἐχορτάσθησαν, καὶ ⸂τὸ περισσεῦον τῶν κλασμάτων ἦραν⸃ ἑπτὰ σπυρίδας πλήρεις.
38Those who ate were four thousand men, besides women and children.
οἱ δὲ ἐσθίοντες ἦσαν τετρακισχίλιοι ἄνδρες χωρὶς γυναικῶν καὶ παιδίων.
39Then he dismissed the crowds, got into the boat, and went to the region of Magadan.
καὶ ἀπολύσας τοὺς ὄχλους ἐνέβη εἰς τὸ πλοῖον, καὶ ἦλθεν εἰς τὰ ὅρια ⸀Μαγαδάν.
