Jesus' True Family
While Jesus is speaking to the crowd, he is told that his mother and brothers are outside wanting to speak with him. He reaches out his hand toward his disciples and says that whoever does the will of his Heavenly Father is his brother, sister, and mother.
Matthieu 12,46-50
46While he was still speaking to the crowds, his mother and brothers were standing outside, wanting to speak with him.
Ἔτι ⸀δὲ αὐτοῦ λαλοῦντος τοῖς ὄχλοις ἰδοὺ ἡ μήτηρ καὶ οἱ ἀδελφοὶ αὐτοῦ εἱστήκεισαν ἔξω ζητοῦντες αὐτῷ λαλῆσαι.
47Someone said to him, "Look, your mother and your brothers are standing outside, wanting to speak with you."
⸂εἶπεν δέ τις αὐτῷ· Ἰδοὺ ἡ μήτηρ σου καὶ οἱ ἀδελφοί σου ἔξω ἑστήκασιν, ζητοῦντές σοι λαλῆσαι.⸃
48But he answered the one who told him, "Who is my mother, and who are my brothers?"
ὁ δὲ ἀποκριθεὶς εἶπεν τῷ ⸀λέγοντι αὐτῷ· Τίς ἐστιν ἡ μήτηρ μου, καὶ τίνες εἰσὶν οἱ ἀδελφοί μου;
49And stretching out his hand toward his disciples, he said, "Here are my mother and my brothers.
καὶ ἐκτείνας τὴν χεῖρα αὐτοῦ ἐπὶ τοὺς μαθητὰς αὐτοῦ εἶπεν· Ἰδοὺ ἡ μήτηρ μου καὶ οἱ ἀδελφοί μου·
50For whoever does the will of my Father in heaven is my brother and sister and mother."
ὅστις γὰρ ἂν ποιήσῃ τὸ θέλημα τοῦ πατρός μου τοῦ ἐν οὐρανοῖς, αὐτός μου ἀδελφὸς καὶ ἀδελφὴ καὶ μήτηρ ἐστίν.
