Jesus at the Feast of Dedication
During the Feast of Dedication in Jerusalem, Jesus walks in Solomon's Colonnade, and the Jews demand that he plainly state whether he is the Messiah. Jesus points to his works and declares that he and the Father are one. The Jews pick up stones to stone him for blasphemy, but he escapes and goes across the Jordan to the place where John first baptized, where many come to believe in him.

22Then came the Feast of Dedication in Jerusalem. It was winter, [Footnote: The Feast of Dedication celebrated the rededication of the temple; it is also known as Hanukkah.]
Ἐγένετο ⸀τότε τὰ ἐγκαίνια ἐν ⸀τοῖς Ἱεροσολύμοις· ⸀χειμὼν ἦν,
23and Jesus was walking in the temple, in Solomon's Colonnade.
καὶ περιεπάτει ὁ Ἰησοῦς ἐν τῷ ἱερῷ ἐν τῇ στοᾷ ⸀τοῦ Σολομῶνος.
24The Jews gathered around him and said, "How long will you keep us in suspense? If you are the Christ, tell us plainly."
ἐκύκλωσαν οὖν αὐτὸν οἱ Ἰουδαῖοι καὶ ἔλεγον αὐτῷ· Ἕως πότε τὴν ψυχὴν ἡμῶν αἴρεις; εἰ σὺ εἶ ὁ χριστός, εἰπὲ ἡμῖν παρρησίᾳ.
25Jesus answered them, "I have told you, and you do not believe. The works I do in my Father's name testify about me,
ἀπεκρίθη αὐτοῖς ὁ Ἰησοῦς· Εἶπον ὑμῖν καὶ οὐ πιστεύετε· τὰ ἔργα ἃ ἐγὼ ποιῶ ἐν τῷ ὀνόματι τοῦ πατρός μου ταῦτα μαρτυρεῖ περὶ ἐμοῦ·
26but you do not believe, because you are not among my sheep.
ἀλλὰ ὑμεῖς οὐ πιστεύετε, ⸂ὅτι οὐκ⸃ ἐστὲ ἐκ τῶν προβάτων τῶν ⸀ἐμῶν.
27My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me.
τὰ πρόβατα τὰ ἐμὰ τῆς φωνῆς μου ⸀ἀκούουσιν, κἀγὼ γινώσκω αὐτά, καὶ ἀκολουθοῦσίν μοι,
28I give them eternal life, and they will never perish; no one will snatch them out of my hand.
κἀγὼ ⸂δίδωμι αὐτοῖς ζωὴν αἰώνιον⸃, καὶ οὐ μὴ ἀπόλωνται εἰς τὸν αἰῶνα, καὶ οὐχ ἁρπάσει τις αὐτὰ ἐκ τῆς χειρός μου.
29My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all, and no one can snatch them out of the Father's hand. [Footnote: Some manuscripts read: "What my Father has given me is greater than all."]
ὁ πατήρ μου ⸀ὃ δέδωκέν ⸀μοι ⸂πάντων μεῖζων⸃ ἐστίν, καὶ οὐδεὶς δύναται ἁρπάζειν ἐκ τῆς χειρὸς τοῦ ⸀πατρός.
30I and the Father are one."
ἐγὼ καὶ ὁ πατὴρ ἕν ἐσμεν.
31Again the Jews picked up stones to stone him.
Ἐβάστασαν ⸀οὖν πάλιν λίθους οἱ Ἰουδαῖοι ἵνα λιθάσωσιν αὐτόν.
32Jesus said to them, "I have shown you many good works from the Father. For which of them are you going to stone me?"
ἀπεκρίθη αὐτοῖς ὁ Ἰησοῦς· Πολλὰ ⸂ἔργα καλὰ ἔδειξα ὑμῖν⸃ ἐκ τοῦ ⸀πατρός· διὰ ποῖον αὐτῶν ἔργον ⸂ἐμὲ λιθάζετε⸃;
33The Jews answered, "We are not stoning you for any good work, but for blasphemy—because you, a mere man, make yourself God."
ἀπεκρίθησαν αὐτῷ οἱ ⸀Ἰουδαῖοι· Περὶ καλοῦ ἔργου οὐ λιθάζομέν σε ἀλλὰ περὶ βλασφημίας, καὶ ὅτι σὺ ἄνθρωπος ὢν ποιεῖς σεαυτὸν θεόν.
34Jesus answered them, "Is it not written in your Law: 'I said, you are gods'?
ἀπεκρίθη αὐτοῖς ὁ Ἰησοῦς· Οὐκ ἔστιν γεγραμμένον ἐν τῷ νόμῳ ὑμῶν ⸀ὅτι Ἐγὼ εἶπα· Θεοί ἐστε;
35If he called them gods to whom the word of God came—and Scripture cannot be broken—
εἰ ἐκείνους εἶπεν θεοὺς πρὸς οὓς ὁ λόγος τοῦ θεοῦ ἐγένετο, καὶ οὐ δύναται λυθῆναι ἡ γραφή,
36then how can you say to the one whom the Father consecrated and sent into the world, 'You are blaspheming,' because I said, 'I am the Son of God'?
ὃν ὁ πατὴρ ἡγίασεν καὶ ἀπέστειλεν εἰς τὸν κόσμον ὑμεῖς λέγετε ὅτι Βλασφημεῖς, ὅτι εἶπον· Υἱὸς τοῦ θεοῦ εἰμι;
37If I am not doing the works of my Father, then do not believe me.
εἰ οὐ ποιῶ τὰ ἔργα τοῦ πατρός μου, μὴ πιστεύετέ μοι·
38But if I am doing them, then even if you do not believe me, believe the works, so that you may know and understand that the Father is in me and I am in the Father."
εἰ δὲ ποιῶ, κἂν ἐμοὶ μὴ πιστεύητε τοῖς ἔργοις ⸀πιστεύετε, ἵνα γνῶτε καὶ ⸀γινώσκητε ὅτι ἐν ἐμοὶ ὁ πατὴρ κἀγὼ ἐν ⸂τῷ πατρί⸃.
39Again they tried to seize him, but he slipped out of their hands.
ἐζήτουν οὖν ⸂πάλιν αὐτὸν⸃ πιάσαι· καὶ ἐξῆλθεν ἐκ τῆς χειρὸς αὐτῶν.
40Then he went back across the Jordan to the place where John had been baptizing in the early days, and he stayed there.
Καὶ ἀπῆλθεν πάλιν πέραν τοῦ Ἰορδάνου εἰς τὸν τόπον ὅπου ἦν Ἰωάννης τὸ πρῶτον βαπτίζων, καὶ ἔμεινεν ἐκεῖ.
41Many came to him, and they said, "John never performed a sign, but everything John said about this man was true."
καὶ πολλοὶ ἦλθον πρὸς αὐτὸν καὶ ἔλεγον ὅτι Ἰωάννης μὲν σημεῖον ἐποίησεν οὐδέν, πάντα δὲ ὅσα εἶπεν Ἰωάννης περὶ τούτου ἀληθῆ ἦν.
42And many believed in him there.
καὶ ⸂πολλοὶ ἐπίστευσαν εἰς αὐτὸν ἐκεῖ⸃.
